PRESS RELEASE: SSC Supports 14 CSR Projects

The Social Security Commission (SSC) has proudly revealed fourteen (14) corporate social responsibility projects which will receive a total of N$ 170 000 over to the next few weeks.

Rino Muranda, Head Corporate Communications explained that the Commission received several applications for sponsorships and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) and the CSI Committee recommended funding of various projects to the tune of N$171,500 for the second quarter of 2013. 


Muranda added: “The SSC’s CSI initiatives are aimed at benefiting institutions/individuals/clubs who demonstrate potential in contributing to the attainment of the Commission’s objectives and upliftment of Namibia’s developmental and empowerment goals. Focus is placed on Educational Development, Natural Disasters, Child Welfare/Orphans and Vulnerable Children, Old Age and Disability, Health and Safety, Rehabilitation Projects, Sports Development, Capacity Building for SMEs, Marginalised Communities and Youth Development. We further take into consideration equitable regional distribution and the merit of the initiatives. ”

Some of the major beneficiaries are the Katima Mulilo Town Council who will receive N$ 20 000 towards hosting of the Mayor’s Civic Awards. The Brass Instruments Training Institute’s aim is to teach young people from Katutura and surrounding areas musical skills thereby keeping them busy with positive development activities. They will also receive an amount of N$ 20.000. An amount of  N$ 35 000 goes towards a Tandem bicycle for two Namibians to participate at an event and train to qualify for the Paralympics.
Numerous other beneficiaries receive an amount of N$ 10 000 and these include Kanjengedi Primary School, Namibia Federation of the Visually Impaired, Eiseb Conservancy, Southern Association of the Visually Impaired, J.T.L Beukes Primary School, Omutwewondjamba Combined School, Olupumbu Combined School and the Office of the Prime Minister to name but a few.

RECYCLE NAMIBIA FORUM: 6th Schools' Recycling Competition

The Recycle Namibia Forum (RNF) is once again inviting schools to participate in the 6 th Schools Recycling Competition (SRC) which commences on 1 March 2014 . Prizes for the top three schools with the most collected recyclables, includes N$10 000 as first prize sponsored by Namibia Breweries Limited, N$5 000 for second prize sponsored by Collect-a-Can and a third prize of N$2 500 from Plastic Packaging.  There will be additional prizes for the best performing school in the Khomas, Coastal and Northern regions.
